STATEMENT FOB WEEK ENDING MAY 7.

The following aie particulars regarding the feeding and treatment of the birds.

DIETARY. MASHES.

1. Equal quantities sharps and bran mixed with liver soups. 2. Sharps lib, bran 21b, peameal Jib, lnixeo" with hot water.

3. Sharps lib, bran lib, mangels or turnips lib, malt sprouts Jib, mixed with water. 4. Sharps lib, bran i!b, mangels or turnips lib. malt sprouts v mixed with soup. 5. Peameal lib, bran lib, roots lib, mixed with water.

6. Sharps lib, bran lib, peameal lib, mixed with water.

7. Sharps lib, bran lib, clover lib, mixed Tvith. liver soup.

Hoots and clover cooked, and ground grains mixed in; small quantity of salt added.

GRAINS.

"Wheat, three nights ; oats, tw nights ; maize, one night; peas, one night; grains alternated, and maize and peas cracked.

GREEN FOOn.

Mangels, turnips, carrots, rape, thousand teaded kale, lucerne, and clover.

GRIT. Blue flint, glass, crockery, and shell grit, and lime always in runs. MEAT. Mixed liver and green bone — loz meat per bird per diem, for the first week or two to induce laying, and then loz every other day; green bone once a week. WATER. Fresh water given every day, and fountains cleaned every week. QUANTITY. Mash and grains fed about one imperial pint per pen per diem, more or less, as required by birds. Green food as much as they will eat. HOURS. Birds are being fed — mash, about 7 ie 7.30 am. at present; green food, at 10 a.m. ; meat, at 2 p.m., and grains at 4 to 4.30 p.m. The eggs are gathered at the evening meal time, and weighed and recorded. No nest eggs are siipplied, so that all breeds will be on the same footing. Houses are being cleaned every clay, and the weight of manure recorded, so tha,t its value can be reckoned at the end of the contest.
