PALMERSTON STOCK SALE.
.; Messrs Dalgety and Company (Limited) report as follows: — The ordinary monthly sale
x>f . stock was held at the Palmerston Yards on -Monday, the Ist inst., when we yarded
1400 sheep and 185 head of cattle. The demand for sheep <was somewhat slow, and as
come vendors would not accept ruling prices •ft considerable portion of our entry was out oinsold. The sales effected were,
liowever, quite up io last morrth's rarbes, and
in -the case of tussock wethers prices .were particularly good considering the present estate of the market. Although cattle were
.somewhat difficult to sell, .nearly the whole 'j>i the entry changed • hand® -at full current ,«at£s. The great bulk of the yarding was -..comprised of -calves, yearlings and rising two-frear-old. steers and heifers. Values ruled as Jollow:— Tussock crossbred wethers, 14s 6d "lo 17s 4d; tussock ewes, failing and brokenJmouthea, 11s to 15s 3d; crossbred lambs, 15s. "Our sales were: — For Mr ,Jbhn Stewart '(Macraes), 44 crossbred ewes, lls; Mr Duncan Kerr (Dunback), 85 two and four-tooth wethers, 16s 9d ; 12" aged ewes, 15s 3d ; Mr Andrew Murray (Dunback), 54- four-tooth Vethers, 17s 4d; Mr John M*Lew (Dunback), 70 two-tooth crossbred -wethers, 14s 6d ; Mr 'A. Dempster .(Flag Swamp), 24 crossbred wethers, 17s 3d; 106 lanibs, 15s;' two-year-old Steers made £4 to £4 15s ; xearlings to. 18
months' old steers and heifers, £2 4s to £3 ss; calves, lls to £1 7s 6d; heifers, £2 10s to £5 10s; aged cows, £1 10s to £2 10s. Our sales -were for Messrs A. Fleming, Jas. Milne, Jas. 'Service, John Anderson, John Munro, T. Walker palmerston), Joseph •Bungey, A. Anderson, A. W. Douglas, N. Culling, P. Bishop (Hampden), J. E. Glover, F. Venn, Jas. Ritchie, Jas. Kennedy, D.
