Country Bands' Contest :

Some Snapshots

AT Queen's Park,

INVERCARGILL.

A second-class band contest was one of the items on the programme of the recent Carnival at Invercargill in aid of the Municipal Band. Two events were to be contested — namely, a march and a waltz — and each competing band could choose its own piece of music, and the highest aggregate in both pieces of music would annex the prize of JB3O, the second and third being £15 and £7 10s respectively. The winners proved to be the Gore Band. An extra prize was also given for drill while the inarch was being played.
