ADDINGTON STOCK SALES

CHRIST CHURCH, May 3.

At tlie Addington yards there was a large yarding of all classes of stock, and a good attendance. Beef showed a still further decline in prices. GoocWsorts of store sheep sold rather better than last week, and prime fat lambs and fat sheep manifested no change in values. Store cattle met with a very dull sale, while there was an active demand for good dairy cows. Bacon pigs sold at late rates, porkers being rather easier, but there was a good sale for laarge stores Store Sheep. — There was a fairly large yarding of store sheep, including some outside lines- There was a slightly improved demand for the better classes of lambs and breeding ewes, but wethers and travel-stained sheep of any sort met with a dull sale. Prices ranged from 14s 30d to 22s 3d; lambs from 11s 7d to 14s 6d.

Fat Lambs. — The entry was good, both in numbers and .afwality, and practically a clearance was effefffced at the previous week's rates. Of a total of 3000 there were 2700 taken for freezing. Lambs. 7s Id to 19s; tegs, 18s to 20s ; butchers' lots, 15s to 19s.

Fat Sheep. — The supply was not more than sufficient for the requirements of the butchers, a few being taken for export, and prices kept up to the level of those of the previous week. Prime wethers sold at 22s to 24s 9d ; lighter, 19s 6d to 21s 6d ; prime heavy ewes, 20s to 22s lOd ; medium, 17s to 19s 6d ; inferior, 14s to 16s 6d ; prime merino wethers, 19s to 20s ; fair quality, 16s.

Cattle. — The entry totalled 279, and there was only a small proportion of real'y prime. The sale was exceptionally dull, and prices again showed a further decline. A few really good steers sold at equal to 21s; ordinary prune sorts, 19s to 20s ; and cow and inferior beef, 14s to 18s per 1001b. Steers made £6 12s 6d to £9 15s; heifers, £o 5s to £7 10s; cows, £4 to £6 Is 6d. A small entry of veal ealve3 sold at. 7s 6d to £2 15s, according to size and quality.

Pigs.— There was a large yarding, and a good demand for baconers at the previous week's rates. Porkers were rather easier. Large stores sold well, but small sorts were dull of sale. Baconers made 45s to 555, and i.p to 62s for heavy-weights, equal to 4Sd and 4d per 1b ; porkers, 30s to 36s equal to 4Jd to 4jd per lb ; large stoics. 25s to 325; medium. 17s Cd to 245 ; wec.ners, 10s to 12s 6d ; suckers. 5s to 7s Gd.
