TEe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., are in receipt of the following cable advice from their London office regarding the progress of the May series of sales :— " The sales gain firmness as tlwy progress. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are higher by abort 7£ per cent to 10 per cent, for greasy merino, super, and crossbred slipe ; about 10 per cent, higher for coarse crossbred; about 10 per cent to 15 per cent, highei* for medium crossbred. The American demand has increased, and exceptionally high rates are being Riven for wool suitable for its requirements.
A London cable states that the stock of kauri gum is 839 cases.
