Fun From the Lower Form.

Few blunders of the humorous order are funnier than those made by school children. They are at their -very best when at th.-nr ve'-y worst, and it is usualh/ the cleverest scholars who make the funniest blunders.

The Schoolmaster recently published adclightful selection of these blunders, edited by Tsr Macnamara : Cne of the chief causes of mistakes is that the children do not properly got hold of the sound of their lesson. This fact is doubtless responsible for the daily prayer of one youngster: "Lead us not into Thames station.' bnd for the following definitions: "Th 3 liver is an infernal organ," "A vacuum is nothing, shut up in a box."' "The zebra is like a horse, only striped, and used to illustrate the letter Z."

A class was being questioned on the Prodigal Son's return, and 1 the teacher asked :

''Who was sorry when the Prodigal Son returned?" "The fatted calf, sir," was the reply.

It is not only the children, however, who give school-teachers amusement ; their parents are also unconsciously humorous, as tho following letters show :

"Please excuse 'little Mary' from attending school this afternoon, as she bar- an illustrated throat, with glaciers on hot'i sides."

"Please excuse Johnny being absent yeste v day, as he had to take his father's wooden leer to tho cobbler's to be mended." I "'Dear miss, — Please excuse mary being late, as she has been out on a herring."
