Using His Feat as Hands.
— An Armless Wonder Drives a Team. Through London. — Holding the reins in a grip of iron with 1 the toes of his right foot, and flourishing the whip in his left foot, Herr Unthan, "The Armless Wonder," shortly Before noon leeently commenced his sensational attempt to drive two fiery American mustangs across London in a phaeton with' his toes. The drive, which was certainly one of Hie most remarkable sights ever seen in London's crowded arteries of traffic, was undertaken as the result of a wager with Air Digby, the well-knjwn trainer of trotting horses. . Mr Digby has a pair of spirited thoroughbreds of which he is justly proud, and was confident that very few persons id England . besides himself could drive them. ( "Ridiculous," said Herr Unthan, the gentleman who was born without arms, but can do all sorts of remarkable things by, the aid of his toes— 7 "why. I could drive those horses of yours with my feet." There was laughter at this, and Mr Digby promptly offered to give £25 to Herr Ua- , than if he succeeded in safely steering the steeds through the" congested traffic of London. Other sums of money were at once "put up" by the incredulous, and so the attempt was arranged. Herr Unthan, prior to the start, took a "hand"' at nap and uncorked a bottle of wine with' his feet, and was photographed seated in a motor" car, a vehicle which hef also drives as an expert despite his physicai 1 deficiencies. I When the armless wonder took his scat; ' on the box and held out his feet for the reins, he was wearing a 'bus driver's square hat and a pair of best silk "driving"' stock-
mgs. At Shepherd's Bush Green, from which! tha start was made, a gieat crowd eollectedS for hours before the start, and as Herr TTiithan waved his feet gleefully on taking his seat, a great cheer went up. And so the start was made. Shortly before 1 o'clock Herr Unthan arrived in the city. At 2.35, having successfully accomplished! eighteen miles of the mest difficult driving in London, he returned to Shepherd's Bush, and was enthusiastically received. -i London Weekly Dispatch.
