OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the committee of the Otago Football Association was held on Monday, and was attended by Messrs P. Braithwaite (ir>. the chair), Allan, Smith, Brickell, Martin, Soundy, Ashton and Irvine. An application from the Mornington Club for, payment for improvements to its ground was declined.

The New Zealand Association wrote with reference to the matter of sending a team to Sydney at the invitation of the New South Wales Association, and asked the Otago Association to forward the names of players who would probably make the visit. It was decided to instruct the Selection Committee to collect the necessary information, and to forward it to the New Zealand Association.

The Chairman intimated that satisfactory arrangements had been made with Mr W. H. Irvine to carry out the secretarial work. The secretary was instructed to wriie to the City Engineer drawing attention to the fact that the High School Rugby team was using the Association ground at the Asylum Ground, and asking that the practice should be stopped. A list of fixtures for next Saturday was drawn up by the sub- committee, and approved by the General Committee. It was resolved that Mr Braithwaite and the secretary be appointed a sub-committeo to draw up the fixtures fop the first round of the First, Second, and Third Grade matches.

•It iva.-> resolved to draw the attention of the Roslyn Club, to the fact that the crossbars on their goal posta were projecting on both sides.

It was reported some time ago (says the Wairarapa Daily Times) that Anthony Barnard, a watchmaker, over Pahiatua way. had tried to commit suicide by cutting his throat. He was nursed back to health, but disappeared mysteriously, and was last seen at Pelone on the 20fch of last month. It is feared tnafc he- has made away with himself.
