First Day — Thursday, April 27.

The Westland Racing Club's Easter meet' ing was commenced to-day in fine weatherj There was a good attendarce. Results: —

Open Handicap. — Pantaloon 1, Siandra 2, Apprentice 3. Also started : Heiress and Zealous. Dividends. £2 17s and £1 Bs.

Tradesmen's Handicap. — Ohio 1, Somaroff -2, Cerise and Blue 3. Also started : Hinerau, Pure .Silver, and Alletta. Dividends. £8 18s and, 9s.

Introductory Trot. — Little Jimmy 1, Nil Desperandum 2, Torpedo 3. Nine otliera; started. Dividends, £3 Us and 14s

Hurdle Race. — Sunmos 1, Zealous 2. These M were the only starters. Dividend, £2 2s.

Autumn Gift. — Freeland 1, Cairngorm 2, Natalie 3. Also started: Sympathy. A splendid race. Dividend, £2 17s.

Borough Trot. — Little Jimmy 1, Protector 2. Federation 3. Five others started. Dividends, £9 17s and 18s.

Railway Handicap. — Somaroff 1, Hinerau 2, Replete 3. Also started : Lacy, Siandra, Ohio*. Koromako, and Maoriland. Dividends, £2 9s and £1 ISs.

The weather was fine for the race meeting, at which the attendance was again fair. The sum of £2448 was put through the totalisator for the two days. Results: —

Miners' Purse. Seven furlongs. — Cairngorm 1, Inspan 2, Heiress 3. Six started. A splendid race, all the whips being out at the finish. Time, Imin 35 4-ssec. Dividends, £3 7s and 335.

Electric Plate. Five furlongs. — Replete 1, Somaroff 2. Seven started. Another splendid race ; won by a bare nose. Time, lmm 8 2-ssee. Dividend^, £2 12s and 15s. Provincial Trot. One mile and a-half. — The

Scrutineer 1, Bogey 2, Minnie Bay 3- Twelv* started. An interesting- race. Dividends, £19 11s and £3 18s. Time, 3min 59sec.

Hurdle Race. One mile and a-half. — Sunmos 1. Zealous was the only other starter. The stewards held an inquiry, and resolved to disqualify Delaney, the rider of Zealous for 12 months for suspicious running. Dividend on Sunmos, £2 3s.

Racing Club Handicap. — Cairngorm 1, Free^ land 2, Apprentice 3. Four others started.' Dividends, £4 13s and 16s. Country Trot. — Comrade 1, Forsaken Child 2, Protector 3. Eight others started. Dividends, £6 9s and £2 3s.
