Third Day — Wednesday, April 26.
Second Hurdles'.— Gold Chappie, 9.0, 1 ; Me Bel, 9.i2, 2; Avondale, 10.12, 3. Six started. Betting: 7 to 4 agst Bellis, 10 to 1 Gold Chappie.- Won by two lengths and a-half. Time, smin 51sec. All-aged Stakes.— Charles Stuart 1, Gladsome 2, Famous 3. Also started: Sir Leonard and Ibex. Betting: 7 to 4 on Gladsome, 3 to 1 agst Charles Stuart. ' Getting away together, Charles Stuart quickly went to the front, followed a length off by Gladsome and Ibex. Excepting Charles Stuart, who improved his position, there was no change until once in the straight, when Charles Stuart came away and won comfortably by four lengths. Time, lmin 38sec — an Australasian mile record.
Welter Handicap.— Fashoda, 9.11, 1; Gig, 8.7, 2; Marie Corelli, 9.10, 3. Twenty-six started. Betting: 5 to 1 agst Birdia, 15 to 1 Fashoda. Won by a length. Time, lmin. 40|sec. Easter Stakes.— Lady Wallace 1, Istria 2, North Head 3. Nine started. Betting: 10 to 9 agst Istria, 3 to 1 Lady Wallace.^ Istria made the running into the straight, where Lady Wallace challenged, and after a great finish won by half a length. Time, lmin 27jsec.
Cumberland Stakes. — Emir 1, Cberson 2, Overdale 3. Betting : 7 to 4on Emir, .5 to 2 agst Cherson, Bto 1 Overdale. These were the only starters: Cherson leading Overdale by four lengths, with ' Emir three lengths away, made the running into' the straight, ' where Emir put in his claim, and, finishing fast, won easily by two lengths and a-half. Time, 3min 272 sec.
City Handicap. — Marvel Loch, 8.4. 1 ; Nothos, 8.11, 2; Loredano, 7.3, 3. Sixteen started. Won by a head. Time, 2min 34Jsec.
Fourth Day — Saturday, April 29.
There was fine, cool weather and a good attendance for the A.J.C. autumn meeting. Results : —
Rous Handicap. — Rosmead, 7.6, 1; Mack, 9.5, 2; Hawker, 6.7, 3. Eight started. Betting: 3 to 1 agst Mack an*. Ririda, 4 to 1 Rosmead. Won by a head. Time, 2min 22sec. J
Place Handicap. — Long Tom, 8.8, 1 ; Marvel Loch, 8.12, 2; Nothoa, 9.2, 3. Seventeen started. Betting: 6to 1 agst Toredano, Bto 1 Long Tom and Nothos. Won by two lengths. Tim«, 2min 34sec, constituting a new Australian record for a mile and a-half.
Second -Steeplechase. — Young Creswick, 11.4, 1; Snowstorm, 11.0, 2; Marjorie, 9.0, 3. Seven started. Betting: 5 to 1 agst Young Creswiek", 7 to 2 Bardenoo, 4 to 1 Skyward. Won easily. Time, 7min 12sec.
A. J.C. Plate. — Emir 1, Signature 2, Lord Fitzroy 3. These were the only starters. Betting: 10 to 1 on Emir, 8 to 1 agst Lord Fitzroy, 35 to 1 Signature. Emir took the lead, went along with measured stride, and won by 30 lengths. Time, smin 14Jsec. ■ Second Nursery Handicap. — Rowley, 7.2, 1; DaiHzic, 8.7, 2; Vibrate, 8.6, 3. Twenty started. Betting: 3 to 1 agst Steel Trust, 6 to 1 Rowley, 8 to 1 Vibrate. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 14|sec.
Final Handicap. — Graceton 1, Lucknotv 2, Fashoda 3. Twenty-one started. Betting 3 to 1 agst Fungus, 6 to 1 Zythos, 15 to 1 P.K., 16 to 1 the others. P.K. won by two lengths, but failed to draw the weight, and Graceton was declared the winner. Time, lmin 7sec.
