KNAPDALE.
April 27.— A sale of work, under the auspices Df the Knapdale Ladies' Guild, was opened on Friday afternoon, 21st inst. The~members of the guild- had been "assiduously preparing for some months, and as" a result" a very good display greeted, tie eyes of these who visited -the schoolroom, where the sale took place. The proceedings were opened. by the Rev. Mr Paulin. In the afternoon the attendance was small on -account of the rough weather, and the number present in tins' evening 'was also much less than it would have been had Jhe weather-been fine. Notwithstanding this ax9w tack, a very satisfactory amount of business was' done. The ladies who presided at the various stalls were Misses Peter, Harvey, Marshall, and Eggleton, and -Mrs Baird. A Christmas tree, well stocked with dainties, •was' in evidence, 'and was a source of interest as also was a guessing competition (the weight •of four apples). In an adjoining room tea and ' eatables were- gratuitously supplied, <much ' to the .pleasure of those - present.
