WEST COAST.
Dr Bell, Government geologist, paid a flying visit to Hokitika on the 18th. During the past week he had been out with a party in Browning Pass district. Despite rather unfavourable weather, daily explorations were made, and Dr Bell states that he is immensely impressed with the possibilities of the district first chosen for exploration. For economy in working, he proposes to divide his party into two sections, with a base camp at the end of the road connection, and a second camp in the back country.
