CLEARING SALE AT OMAKAU
Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. report: — We held a clearing sale of breeding cows and heifers, also steers, horses, and cows on account of Mr William Lreask at his farm on the 17th inst. at Omakau. As it was known Mr Leask had sold his farm, and. that everything was to bo soki to the highest bidder, there was a large gathering of farmers from all parts of the district, -with, a, result that everything was sold at very satisfactory prices to the vendor. There is no doubt that the name of the vendor in the district went a long way towaids making the sale a success, and we might mention that the stock brought forward was in splendid condition, and an exceptionally well bred lot, and Mr Leask is entitled' to credit for his good judgment in his selection, while Mrs "W. Leask, jun., is entitled to the thanks of the public who attended the sale for the very excellent lvmch provided. The following are a few of the prices obtained: — 33 breeding cows at £3; 11 heifers at £2 17s 6d ; 10 steers at £1 3s; 10 do at £3; 5 yearlings at £1 17s 6d ; 1 yearling colt, .£2l 10s ; 1 grey gelding at £24 ; bay gelding, aged, £13 ; 1 gelding, aged, JEI4 ; 1 gelding, aged, JEIS; 1 light horse, £21 10s; 1 horse, trap, and harness, £25.
