CHRISTCHURCH, April 19. I At Addington Yards to-day there was a large *jitry of all classes of stock, and there was » goo<\ attendance. Seef was easier in consequence of a large supply. Store sheep, especially ewes, -were lower in price, and the anarket for fat lambs was dull, the sales effected being at lower rates. Fat sheep sold .well at the opening of the sale, but after- I wards prices declined. Store cattle were in 1 poor demand, and the only classes of stocky' that maintained their values were fat pigs and"' dairy cows.
Store Sheep. — The entry comprised from 3500 to 1800, including a number of lines from the Cl\atham Islands. There was a marked tfalling-ofE in the demand for all classes, especially ewes, which were several shillings cheaper than a few weeks ago. The range of prices was: Wethers, los to 20s Id; ewes, 13s idto 19s ; lambs, 13s to 15s 6d. "
.cTat Lambs. — There was a large yarding, .and prices were easier, ranging as follows : — Tegs, ISs 9d to 20s 3d; standard lamb weights, 17s lo ISs 6d: others, 15s to IGs 9d. Fat Sheep. — The pens were well filled, and Ihe sale opened at the rates previously ruling, but slackened off as butchers filled their requirements. Expoit buyers were not operating to any extent, and prices showed a decline. Prime wethers sold at from 22s to 24s lid ; others, 20s to 21s 9d ; prime heavy ewes, 21s )to 23s 9d; medium. 17s 6d to 20s; aged, 15s to 17s; merino wethers, 16s lOd to 17s 7d. Fat Cattle.— There were 249 head yarded, a 3arge proportion being of medium quality. OBiddir-g was slack, and prices showed a flecline. Steers made from £6 5s to £9 ; heifers, £5 5s to £8 2s 6d ; and cows, £i 15s to £7 5s — equal to 15s to 20s, and extra prime to 21s per 1001b. There was a good yarding Df veal calves, which sold at fiorn 7s Cd to £2 Bs, according to size and quality. Store and Dairy Cattle. — A small yarding met with a dull sale. Yearlings made up to SOs ; 15 to 18 months, 35s to 42s Gd ; two-year-pld steeis, £3 ss ; two-year-o'.d heifers, £2 ss ; three-year-old steers, £5 Is; three-year-old lieif ers, M 10s ; dTy cows, 30s to £3 10s ; dairy jcows, £4 10s to £9 10s. Pigs. — There was a fairly large yarding, especially of stores, and the entry included a consignment of fats and stores fiom the Chatham Islands. There were some very prime lots of local baconers and porkeis offered, and prices were about the same as Ja=t week for both fats and stoics. The Chatham Island pigs sold up to 47s for baconers and up to 40s for large stores. Baconers made 42s to 475, and heavier 48* to 150s (equal to 4 J .d for medium and 4d per lb for heavy weights) ; porkers. 28s to 37s (equal to 5d per lb); large stores, 22s 6d to 32s 6d; medium, 16s to 225 ; and weaners, 8s to los.
