HAWKE'S BAY SHOW.

NAPIER, April 12.

The fourth annual autumn show of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held to-day at Hastings. The day was beautifully fine, and the attendance was a record for an autumn show here. The exhibits were rather fewer than last year, but fhis was almost wholly in the implement and horticultural sections, the other departments showing an increase. The butter, grain, fruit-vegetable, and root crops made a gooflfjlhiplay; and the show was well up to the standard of former years. The principal competitions resulted as follow: — Single-handed Sawing — J. Phillips (lOsee), 1. Time, 45sec. Double-sawing Handicap — Blanc and Deegan (3sec). 1; Casey and Pretty (scratch), 2. Time, 16 3-ssec. Standing Block Chop— G. Blanc (scratch), 1; J. E. Brunt (4-Osec), 2. Time, 2min 4-6 see.
