SOME NOTES FOR THE SOUTH. LAND L.F.
rXTERCARGILL, Apnl 10. Dear Dot,— l liesr that nearly everybody m connection with the clvb has" been accused of the rffusions which have appeared over l!ie rom de plume cf Southland Critic. Even tho girls have had ih-ir share, and I hear that even the president is now b^ig saddled with having written them. It is very nmusmg to see other.-; being proclaimed guilty cf your om caprices.
The club is still making rapid strides forward, and if the present rate of progress is continued, it will soon ba on an even footing with the Dunedin Club, though not quito so numerous. Iho last meating was just a beautiful one. Ths room was ciov/ded, and e\erything went off with a lovely swing. I am sure the president f"lt quite gratified at such a meeting. Since th-n a social evening has been held, at which all present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Tarn pleased to note Ihat that "stand off" manner of =om= of the members has entirely disappear3d. and that cvorybidy is soeiaVe and peasant. T notice that very few of the club members are m the habit of writing to th^ column. Wake up, Willow B'-ook. 'What are you doing, Ita ' Let us hear you again. Casino. Wake, one and all, and let Dunedn know you ars all still alive.
Morenork, where havf you got to 9 — you might be in Daw=on C>ty for al! we see" of you. Come along, nr>d add another o^e to our number, and push the o'd c*rt alopg. I was pleased a I -o«=ing our old friend, Southland Cynic, at last inectine, and evidently enjoyinsy himself. I ho->e sea more of you, Cynic. Who was the L F. that ihe boy? vror: smlins at in the church porch > Cnv anybody teU me? Perhaps Rrwa, might be abe to inform me. Did you get many rabbits on ths Bluff road. Willow- Brook Standing on a mud heap, a. club in your hand, and "doggy" hunting in a. pile of rubbish. "Monarch of all I survey" would about sum it up. Now, dear Dot, I have said my little say — I am afraid it is a very dry one — and will now close, with love to yourself and all the L.F. SOUTHLAND CEITIC. P.S. — I forgot to mention that Cupid has been busy amongst us and that we are about to lose one of our best members in our old friend and comrade, Mausie 8., who is about to Jaunch foTth into .the pleasures of married life. This will be a great loss to the club, as Mausie always contributed such nice papers; they were always well worth listening to. But for all that I will join with all the little foTk in wishing her happiness and prosperity in her new sphere, and trust she and her partner may ever find life full of good things, happiness, and kindness. — S. C.
