TOWN V. COU NTR Y.
The town committee for the June gathering has not, been idle, and, indeed, eveiy ounce of energy will be required. But, at the same time, the country players will have to do their share if they hope to carry off a victory. They should be encouraged by the thought that after the first four boards the scores were exact'y equal in last match, and the bigger the team the better the chance for the Country.
At the last gathering, Mr Jas. Gardiner was unanimously elected captain of the Country team for thas year, and the following gentlemen were appointed to conserve the interests of the Country team in their respective districts- — Messrs A. Murdoch .(Riversdale), "WY J. Marsh (Wyudham), M. Leith (Woodlands), W. Robertson (Palnierston), -Duncan (Ranfurly), W. M'Kinna (Gore), J. Shore (Taieid), J. Paterson (Ngapara), T. Ramsay (Hyde), Geo." Clarke (Moonlight). J. Christie (Inchclutha), and D. Bower (Waiwera). Now is the time for these gentlemen to justify their appointment. Mr Gardiner, must, naturally, look to them for active co-operation in working up a team,' and they should endeavour to have some report ready a week "before the day."
