WORLD'S CHAMPIONS IN SYDNEY.
INTERNATIONAL MEETING.
SYDNEY, April 15.
The international athletic meeting wa, held) to-day. The weather was fine, bm the giound spongy and against fast times. Great interest was taken in the first appearance of Shrubb and Duff*y.
The 100 yds Sprint was won by B.akei (New South Wales-), who beat Duffey by six inches. The American led to within 20 yards of the finish, when B.uker, with a splendid spurt, passed him, -winning in 10 l-s&ec.
The Mile Championship of New South Wales went to Shrubb. who beat Wheatley (Victoria) by 20 yards in 4min 26 3-ssec.
The Five-mile resulted : Murray (Ne^v South Wales). 3min 35s.ee, 1 ; Wood (New South Wales). 2min 50sec, 2 ; Giindal (New South Wales), 2min ssec. 3. Thn race was run in semi-daikne&s. Shmbb did not finish. A protest ivas entered, and probably the race will be rerun. Time, 28min 36 3-ssec.

Shrubb retired just before completing four miles, being unable, owing to the senii -darkness, to ascertain his position in the race. He covered two miles in 9mm 47 3-ssec — an Australian record, — and three miles in 15min 7 2-ssec — a New South Wales record. The judges decid-e tomorrow if the race is to be rerun.
Barker won the 75yds Raoe. in Bjsec.. The 440 yds event fell 'to Wheatley (Victoiia). who beat Webster (an ex-New Zealander) by sereral yards. Time, 51 5-ssee.
