Notes from Cromwell. . (From Our Own Correspondent.)
CROMWELL, April 5. There was a cold snap on Monday, with Tain and light snow on the high country. The river rose slightly, but the weather is now fine and the river is falling.
The Electric No. 1 dredge is doing better, and' will probably soon be over the rough ground. No. 2 dredge is on exceptionally rough ground, just ahead of where she worked a few years ago.
The Junction No. 1 dredge is starting to-day, and should get good returns when once she has opened out. The No. 3 dredge is now getting a face opened out, and should do well all the winter.
The Rise and Shine No. 1 dredge is on nice soft bottom, and will have a good return.
The Consols and Alpine No. 2 dredges will be all this week getting fixed up. The Hartley and Riley dredge is now getting on payable wash, and I think will soon be on something very good.
