(a) The similarity between, this position anr> that on the diagram in the preceding game is obvious. We recollect another instance of a coup oi this nature published by Mi John Piunington, of Liverpool, in the Leeds Weekly ilercury. in 1889, and that the same game was published in the American Checker "Playe* by Lucius S. Head in December o«f that" year. Both Pmnington and Head showed ? correction ol a Glasgow Herald game, each independent of tha ether, but Piumugtou first saw the Jjglit.
