Store Cattle. — About 30 head were yarded, consisting principally of cows. [ Fat Sheep.— To-day's market totalled 1575, which includes about 300 stores. Bidding was not what it might have been, and pens changed hands at slightly lower prices than ruled last week. Competition for wethers was fairly good', but ewes were not in great demand. Prime wethers brought from 22s to 23s 9d ; good, 18a 3d to 21s; others, 12s to 15s; best ewes, from/ 19s to 21s (a few extra heavy pens to 22s 3d); good 17a to 18s 9d ; others up to 15s. Huggins (Abbotsford), Mr W Thomson (Ayrshire Park), Industrial School, Mr Stedman (Anderson's Bay), pigs at from, 5s 1 to £2 ss. Wright, Sfcephenson, and Co. penned and sold 21 head at quotations. Balclutha Stock Sale. — Otago Farmers' Co* operative Association of New Zealanct (Limited) held their usual fortnightly sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs at the Corporation, Yards, Balclutha, on Friday last, the 17th. March, when there was a fair attendance or farmers and traders. Bidding for sheep was good throughout the auction, and highly satisfactory prices obtained. Cattle were not in such brisk demand. Notwithstanding this fact, we cleared our entry at fairly good values. We penned 350 sheep, 25 head cattle, and 20 !pigs.

Grain. — Wheat: The market may be said to be steady, and a fair amount of business is being done at quotations. There is some trouble about the condition of some of tha new wheat. Farmers run considerable risks in threshing from the stook, especially so late in the season. Prime old wheat is in demand, but there is little of that class available locally. Mediiim quality and fowls' feed are slow of sale. Quotations : Prime old, 3s 6d! td 3s 7d; prime new, 3s 4d to 3s 6d, or the equivalent at country stations; best fowls' wheat, 2s lid to 3s (sacks extra). Oats: The market is bare of all sorts, and if shippingorders were not slack at present, prices woulct harden. A few consignments of the new crop have been delivered from the Taieri and Middlemarch districts. Those from the latter are very fine quality. Quotations . Piiine millingIs 8d to Is BJd; best feed and shipping lines. Is 7£d to Is 8d ; inferior to medium, Is 5d ta la 7d (sacks extra).

Potatoes. — Derwcnts are in over-supply, and! only those of prime quality are saleable. Many of those arriving are in bad condition, and arp slow of sale at any price. White sorts are in better demand, as they are in better condition. Quotations : Best Derwents, £5 to £5 ss; best kidneys and Up-to-dates, £5 5s to £5 10s (sacks in).

Chaff. — There is a fair demand for primer old. Other sorts are in full supply, and slow of sale. Quotations: Best old, £3 10s to £S U2a 6cl ; medium, £3 to £3 Bs , best new, £3 2s 6d to £3 ss ; medium, £2 15s to £3 -. inferior and out of condition, £2 to £2 10s (sacks extra). Straw. — Pressed oaten, 37s 6d to £2; wheat en, 32s 6d to 355. There is little dernanc? for clover hay at present. Quotations, to £§

New velvet and Tuscan, 3s SJ& to 3s 6d ; red sorts, as 3d to 3s 4d (old wheat Id more); fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id.

Oats. — Demand has slackened off, and prices are easier. Milling, Is 9d; bright, short feed, Is 7Jd; inferior, Is 2d to Is 4d. Eyecorn, 3s to 3s 2d Barley. — Prime malting, fair demand at 3s Sd to 3s 6d.

Chaff. — Market in over-supply. Prime oaten eheaf chaff. £3 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d; medium, bard to quit at £3 to £3 5s per ton Csacks extra).

Kyegiase. — Fair demand. We have sold at: Farmers' dressed, light seed, Is 5d to 2s 3d ; heavy-weights, 2s 9d to 3s 3d; machine dress sd, 3s 6d to ss; light seed, Is 9d to 2s 3d; heavy seed, 2s 3d to 3s.

- Cocksfoot. — Farmers' dressed. 3d to 3£d; machined, 5d to 6d.

Linseed. — Scarce; nominal value, £10; vanted.

Ghewings's Fescue. — No demand at present OYring to large stocks of -last season's. New season's sample wanted.

Sheepskias. — We ho!d sales every Tuesday. Hides. — We quote: Prime ox, s|d to 6|d:; medium, 4£d to s|d ; light, 43fcd to 4|d ; heavy cow, up to 4|<3; light, 4£d to 4gd per 1b; calfskins (sound), up to 2s 6d to 3s; yearlings, 3s 6d to 6s.

Horsehair (k&en demand). 16Jd to 17Jd.

Country sales conducted on most leasonable terms. We can supply rabbit and sheep netting, oil cake ; fanners' Fairbanks 4001b scales, £5 10s ; Crown sheep dip — casks 3s per gallon, drums 3s 6d ; Berger s red and black sheepbranding oil, 4s per gallon; Gibson's cattle brand, 9s for small, and 15s for large tins ; Newton's patent wool presses, £13 each ; clover, rape, and turnip seeds, all freshly landed. Grass Seed Cleaning. — Our machinery is up to date. We have just added a clover polisher, and as 'we have a machine of the latest type for each kind of seed, we give from 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, better cleaning results than a machine which cleans all seeds. "We also store seed free of charge until cleaned, and keep same insured.

Storing Grain. — We are prepared to store, reeerre. and' deliver, insure, with three months' free storage, at 3d per sack. Our stores are vermin proof and connected with siding.

"Walnuts, 5d to Gd, waited. Bacon. — Rolls, Bd. Mums, 8d lo Sid. Pigs. — 3?or sizes up to 1601b, first-class dairyfed quality, froln 4d.

Butter boxes, with parchment linings, we can supply at 18s per dozen.

VickerVs egg preservative, 20s per case of 8 gallons.

Poultry. — Apply for particulars for export. Prices as under: Roosters, 4lb each each (live weight), 3s per pair; hens, 3Jlb each (live weight), 2s 9d per pair ; hens and roosters, .2|ld each (live weight), 2s 3d per pair; ducks andi ducklings, 4lb each (live ■weight) Ss 3d per pair ; ducks below 4lb, 3s. Hens and chickeii3 must not weigh below 2flb each ; ducks not below 3ib each as the department will not pack li|*ht weights. All poultry must be consigned to poultry depot, and prices are free of railage.

Fruit. — We receive consignments by every steamer from Australia, the Islands, and our own colony, and hold sales daily on arrival of consignments. Sacks. — We can quote 44in corn sacks, 6s 6d ; 4.6 in, 6s 9d : 48in, 7s ; second-hand grain sacks, 5s 6d; good flour sacks, 5s per dozen, demand limited.
