N. Z. KENNEL CLUB.
; A special general meeting of the N.Z.K.C. I was held in the Chamber of Commerce, Wel- | lington, on Thursday, March 2, at 8 p.m. Dr Faulke, the president, occupied the chair, and the folowing delegates we»-e present: — Messrs A. Minogue and Barton (Dunedin Fanciers' Club), W. Janson and M. Grenside (Wanganui A. and P. Society), J. Philpot and D. Wright (Egmont A. and i P. Society), E. Bernasconi (Wellington Kennel Club), S. E. Harrop (Hawke's Bay K. and P. Club), J. Davis (Masterton A. and P. Society), J. Fitzgerald (Auckland K. Club), and Paul Hunter, vice-president, and A. Robertson (Wairarapa P.P. and D. Society). The business to be dealt with was a notice of motion by Mr Janson re th~e advisability of the N.Z.K.C. holding a championship show The Secretary having read the minute calling the special meeting, the President then caled upon Mr Janson to move his motion. Mr Janson, in moving the motion standing in his name, said he considered it would be in the best interests of the "fancy" if the 1 motion were carried.
Mr Paul Hunter asked for the president's ruling as to whether the motion was in order with the rules. This matter led to some little discussion. The Piesident stated
7 that he would like to hear a little discussion ou the matter before giving his ru.ing, which ho would reserve till a little later on.
Mr Bernasconi (Wellington) stated that he was instructed to support the motion. | Mr Fitzgerald (Auckland) said he was inhe was instructed to support the motion. j ! Mr Philpot (Kgrnont) declared his intention of supporting the- motion. ] Mr Minogue (Dunedin) stated that he had not written to his club in the matter, and I was not going to: he support the motion. j Mr Barton, also representing the Dunedin Club, stated that he was instructed by his club to oppose- the motion. ; Mr Greuside (Wanganui) also spoke on the matter, and stated he was prepared to go further, and would move as an amendment—"That it be an annual show." j Mr Fitzgerald seconded the amendment. Some discussion then arose as to the re- | cording of votes at special meetings (Rule 13). i Mr Janson stated that he intended to ' voto as hon. treasurer in, order to give his co-delegate a vote. i The President then gave his ruling as a&ked for by Mr Hunter, stating that ho ; was in favour of the motion, but alter perus- '< ing the rules ho was reluctant.y compelled j to rule the motion out of order. Speak- I ing personally, he did so with regret, and ; woud likjs to see the rules amended in the direction, of holding an annual championship show. ; t" .Several delegates spoke adversely on the president's ruling, and the latter said he would take a motion challenging his decision. Mr Minogue then moved — "That the president's 'ruling be challenged." Mr Bcrnaseoni seconded the motion, and, on being put, the voting resulted as follows : — Ayes : J. Davis (Masterton A. and P. Association), E. Bernasconi (Wellington K. Club), J. | Philpot (Egmont A. and P. Society), A. | Robertson (Wairarapa P.P. and D. SCeiety), A. Minogue (Dunedin Fanciers' Club), W. Janson (hon. treasurer). Nops : S. E. Harrop (Hawke's Bay K. and P. Cub), M. Grenside (Wanganui A. and P. Society), J. Fitzgerald (Auckland K. Club), — Barton (Dunedin Fanciers' Club), D. Wright (Egmont A. and P. Society), P. Hunter (vicepresident) . | The President, in recording his vote, declared the motion lost. This concluded the special business. The ordinary monthly meeting was then held, the president in the chair, and the same delegates being present. The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were road and confirmed. A small amount of correspondence was dealt with. ' An account for £13 2s 6d was passed for payment. ' The Vigilance Committee reported on some matters referred to them as follows : — The greyhound bitch shown by Mr H. Clay, of Carterton, as Sweet Rose, when the same bitch was registered under tho ] name of Gipsy Queen by the former j owner: The Committee recommended that '• the bitch be disqualified, under Rules 1 and 6 of the N.Z.K.C. Rules.— Re the bull j bitch shown by Mr Hastie as "Dalby" at the Dunedin 1904 show, she is registered as : I Gyp, and should have been transferred: { The Committee recommended that the bitch ] be disqualified. — The Vigilance Committee * recommended that the applications for championship certificates by Mr Janson for his deerhound 1 dog "Whareroa Victor and Mrs F. E. Hindmarsh's S. C. for terrier dog Kano, be granted, the same being in order. New Plymouth A. and P. Society's show held at New Plymouth in 3904-: The. Vigilance Committee recommended that all dogs shown at this show be disqualified on account of their being shown at an unregistered show. ' Mr Janson gave notice that it was his intention to move a new rule as follows : — "That the N.Z.K.C. be empowered to hold a championship show annuaMy for pporting and non-sporting dogs, at a date to be fixed by the olub." Mr Minogue gave notice that he would move— "That Rule 21 (regulations for shows), after the word 'champion' in the last Jine in Regulation 21, be amended by the addition of tho words 'providing one of such challenge prizes or certificates has bes»i won at a show held by the Kennel Club.' " It was resolved that a special meeting be called for March 23 to deal with the foregoing special business. It was moved and seconded that the secretary of the. Master-ton A. and P. Society be written to pointing out his omission to submit their schedule for this club's approval, and asking for -n explanation. The meeting then adjourned. HHbsby Dovet, Secretary. ♦
