LONDON, March 6. The Cambridge University authorities, after mature deliberation and a lengthy d'scussion by competent writers through the columns of the press, have decided to continue Greek as at present, and refuse to make it an optional subject. In connection with the appointment of Earl Cawdor as successor to Lord Selborne as First Lord of the Admiralty, the new lord's consummate business capacity is generally recognised. The Daily Chronicle (ii-)» amongst other newspapers, congratulates the Government on his appointment. Mr Asquith, speaking at.Dalaston, North Ixmdon, declared that the Liberals were agreed that after saving Freetrade it was absolutely necessary to deal with the education and licensing questions. Upon the. adoption of a more just and national system of land tenure andi land taxation there also depended the solution of many urgent social problems, including the housing of the poor.
