'-An ordinary meeting of the Otago Land Board was held on Wednesday; present — the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr D. Barron), Messrs W. Dallas, G. Livingstone, J. Tough, jßnd J M. Mackenzie.

P. H. Perry wrote asking if the board would exchange the license he held over 54 acres hi the reserve fronting run 225e. Blackstone, •for a Tease in perpeUiity. — Referred to the ganger for report.

D. M'Donald applied for a yearly grazing license^ over sections 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, and bridge «md road reserves, block XI. Mount Hyde district, and sections 3, 4, and 6, block XVI, iiaungatua district. — Declined. The Heriot Public Hall Committee applied Jor an area of about a quarter-acre in the town SHoriot, fronting Roxburgh street, as a siter a publio hall. — Granted, subject to survey. William Collins and Andrew Donaldson, lun., applied for a license to cut flax on part »f Beaumont run, from Beaumont Creek to ihe Tallabum. and from the Tallaburn to the nomestead, and from the homestead to Green Bush.— Referred to the pastoral lessees for iieir assent.

Ranger M'Dougall forwarded an application from George and "William Gaudin for a sawmill license over 100 acres on the east side of the Wilkin River, about three and a-half miles above Calwell's sawmill site. — The sawmill license held by D. Calwell was cancelled, and it was decided to grant a license to Gaudin and Son over the area applied for, the royalty to be assessed by the ranger. Patrick Crowley forwarded an application to purchase sections 21, 3 of 24, and 2 of 69, block I, Tuapeka East district. — Referred to warden for report. The application to transfer lease in perpetuity 743, Patrick Walsh to John Menhinich, section 67, block IV, Maungatun. district, and section 45, river section, "West Taieri district, Momona Settlement, and miscellaneous license 1236, river section 49, West Taieri district (Webb and Allan, solicitors) was approved. Ranger O'Neill reported that Alfred C. Gumming, holder of section 39. block 111, Beaumont district, tinder occupation lease, was not complying with tb.s residence condition of his lease. — It was decided to rail upon Cumming to show cause within a month why the lease should not be forfeited for noncompliance with conditions. Ranger O'Neill reported that Lucy Moore, holder of section 16, block XII, Tuapeka East district, under occupation lease,was not complying with the residence condition of her lease. — - The board decided to call upon the holder to show cause within a month why the lease should not be forfeited. Ranger O'Neill forwarded a valuation of the improvements on Run No. 494. Tuapeka, formerly held by John King. — Under the circumstances it was decided not to allow valuation for improvements. Ranger O'Neill forwarded a valuation of the improvements on Run No. 51c, Tuapeka East, formery held by Henry M*Cormick. — Approved, run to be opened burdened with valuation for improvements, £61 12s. George Morrison applied for a lease over sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 6, block XXIV, town of Dunkeld. — The board agreed to reply that it had xio power to -dispose of town lands except by auction. "John Sheehy wrote with reference to section 9, block VII, Strath-Taieri district, at.present open for application. — The application was declined, and the valuation for improvements was reduced to £48 10s. M. Graham wrote protesting against D. M'Donald being given a license to occupy sections 31 and 37, block IV, Mount Hyde district. — A license was ordered to issue to Messrs Graham and M'Donald for the area referred to in the report by the commissioners of August 27, 1904, for one year only. Ranger O'Neill forwarded a report on the by John Meade for a lease to occupy section 31, block 111, Poolburn district, gravel reserve. — Granted at a rental of ss, subject to erection of gate to enable the local body to remove gravel. Ranger O'Neill forwarded a report on the application by W. C. Pitches for a grazing license over about three acres in the town of Clyde, above the bridge. — Report adopted, and the rental fixed at 20s per annum. With regard to Run No. 6 of 23, Messrs Dallas. Tough, and Livingston reported that after inspection they decided to recommend that Mr M'Aughtrie be granted a further lease under clause 219 of the Land Act, at a rental of £51 10s 4d. — The report was adopted. John Love applied for lease in perpetuity (rural land) section 40, block VI, and section 7, block VII, Tiger Hill district.— Approved, subject to the right being allowed. Mr Jopp to remove the fencing through this section within 14 days. John Kingan applied for pastoral license over sections 12 to 16, block V, Lower Wanaka district. — Application approved. Ezekiel Mawhinney applied for license to occupy section 2, block 11, Ranfurly Recreation Reserve. — Referred to ranger for report. It was decided to declare the following runs open for application after the lapse of 30 days from the 10th inst: — Runs 254, 254 a. and 260, 76,020 ; rent, £554 6s 3d. Sections in block XI, Mount Hyde, and block XVI, Maungatua districts, 1942 acres; rent, £5. Runs 226 and 226f. and sections 86 and 92, block I. St. Batbans district, 8824 acres ; rent, £65 ; valuation £211 12s. The next meeting was fixed for March 22.

The expert physicians arid surgeons from the Dr Lougston Institute, of Melbourne, are now making their second annual visit to New Zealand, and will arrive in Dunedin on Monday next, the 20th inst. This yeai the visiting staff has been augmented by the inclusion of specialists, in order to cope with, the demand for relief in those suffering from eye, ear, and Uiroat troubles. The cyneoologist attached to the Institute is also a member of the present staff, 'to lattend all female patients. The visiting specialists may bs consulted 1 daily in theii suite of rooms at the City Hotel, and desire it to be known that consultation is free.— [Advt.]
