HAWKE'S BAY.
The hearing of the case m which Edward Masters, a rabbiter, is charged with attempting to murder his r ife at Hastings on February 6, and with attempting suicide, was concluded on the 7th. accused being committed for trial. The evidence of Mrs Masters went to show that she and accused lived unhappily together and separated. Accused on the day in question met her and asked for some papers which she was proceeding to her home to get, when Masters made overtures for a reconciliation. She asked him to give up drink and take out a prohibition crder, but he refused, and immediately took cmfc a revolver, exclaiming. "You've got to die," and fired, wounding her under the arm.
