WELLINGTON, March 1

The Government .Fire Insurance Department has reduced the- rates to the level of tho£e adopted a month ago by the Underwriters' Association. This means cbafc the department and the companies are again working on practically level term*. The amended tariff of the Government took effc-cfc this afternoon, the agents tl roughout the colony having been notified by telegraph. X, V, and Z risks were reduced a month age by the companies ty 10 p<?r cent., or to the same rate as that ct the Government, and now the department has lowered the tariff ou "W" risks 33 -3 per cent., equal with the tariff of the companies.
