ALHAMBRA THEATRE.

An audience which 'completely filled the building in every part assembled at tiie 'Alhambra Theatre on Saturday night to witness tke usual change of programme provided by Messrs Fmller's Company. There was also an additional attraction about ths .perform«nce to be given in that several new axtiats;

among v»hom were a few old favourites, were anncranced to make their appearance. Forerno'sb ornongst the m&w arrivals was Tom Hedley, who is described as " a musical moke," and who appeared on the stage in the garb of a tramp. Mr Hedley"s ability as an artist lies in the playing of numerous quesr instruroents, from every one of which h& manages to obtain nrusic which is both quaint and pretty. The best of his numieious selections was that on a one-string violin, which he manipulated in ap artistic and high'y-pleasing manner. Otbe-r instiuments bi ought into requisition wore the xylophone, fairy bells, concertina, etc., and IvLr Hediey proved himself as capable as '"knocking" music out of these as out cf the violin. Another new artist to appear was Vantell, a triple-bar athlete. Vauie!l, by the aid of three horizontal bars about four yards apart, pea-formed some remarkably clever and interesting gymnastic feats, rot the close of which he attempted the difficult) feat of leaping from the first bar to the third 1 bar without touching the centre one. Yant-pll's attempt, though a very good one, was not quite sticcessful, but the r.udienoe fully recognised tho difficulty of the act by spontaneously applauding, him. Miss Barbara Kenton and t-li-e MAuley Sisters made reappearances, which, judging, by the applavsa with which they were greeted, were veiy welcome ones. All of these artists contributed very enjoyable items, and had to respond to repeated demands with supplem.entaiy numbers. The Wheelers gave another exhibition cf trick riding, every feat of which wa.s a great deal above the average. JL realistic fire scene by Mr Frank King met with a very good reception, while the iteni3 provided by Mis 3 Florri© Lsigh, Miss Florence* Calcutt, Messrs Scott and Wallace and Sam Wilson in the first half of the entertainment were very acceptable. The fun of the cornerman was fnrions to 'a degree, and they kept tho audience in a continual state of laughter.
