WEST COAST.

Mr H. D. Bedford, M.H.R., is conducting a vigorous no-license campaign in the Buller electorate. On Thursday and Sunday at Westport be addressed the largest temperance gatherings which 1-ave ever assembled on the Coast. The meetings were presided over by the Mayor (Mr Alunro) and the Rev. Rugley Pratt. The lecturer convincingly dealt with the economic and moral aspects of the question, and answered objections to no-lioense. The town has been greatly impressed, and the i;o-licen«e vote, it is expected, will be largely benefiteJ by the campaign. The prohibitiom^ts are hopeful of capturing the electorate at the next noil.
