EARL SELBORNE APPOINTED?
LONDON, March 1.
It is officially announced) that Lord Milner has resigned his position as Lord High Commissioner of South Africa. He returns to England shortly.
March 2.
Lord Milner resigned his post owing to his health. He leaves for England at the end of March.
Lord Selborne, First Lord of the Admiralty, succeeds him.
The Pall Mall Gazette says that Lord 1 Selbomei's appointment is a distinct step forward in Imperial evolution. It is the first time in the- Empire's history that a Cabinet Minister has been offered a colonial appointment.
CAPETOWN, February 28
The Caps Ministry is asking for the restoration of the High Commissionership in Capetown when Lord Milner's successor is appointed.
