At the cricket tournament held in connection with the Westport Mining and Industrial Exhibition, Ross team made 76 runs in their first innings, and Westport A team 34 and 46 runs. Requiring 6 runs to win, Ross made them in the second innings at thfc expense of three wickets. -Ross thus wins the silver cup and gold medals. W. Ourrie (sev-en wickets for 12 runs) and Minehan (three for 14) captured the wickets in the first innings for Ross, and in the second W. Ourrie Raptured four for 18, Minehan three for 1«, and R. Ourrie two for 0. With two nights yet to run, .the We-stport Exhibition is understood to have earned sufficient money to cover all expenses.

The Mines Department has given orders that the Government diamond drill, which has been in use at the Thames for a considerable period, is to be sent to be used in the development of the State coal mine at Point Elizabeth.
