WAIKOUATI COUNTY v. WAIHEMO COUNTY.
. A match between the representatives of Waikouaiti County and those of Waihemo County was played on the Waikouaiti Domain on Tuesday, 27th "inst., and after an interesting game the former were victorious by 34 runs on the . first innings. The, Waikouaiti Counfty team consisted of players from Waikouaiti. Seacliff, and Goodwood, and the Waihemo team was made up of Palmerston and Shag Point representatives- Waihemo won the toss, and sent Waikouaiti to the wickets, the hitter compiling 95 runs- before they were disposed of, while Waihemo only succeeded in making 61 runs. Waikouaiti then went in a second time, and made another good stand, remaining at the wickets until their score reached 99, ~the highest scorers being Sneeston- (not out, 30)), James Bradley (22), and Malloch (14). Mr T. Mackenzie, M.H.R. (president of the association) and Dr Hislop (vice-president) were on the ground during the- progress of the match, and both gentlemen delivered brief addresses on the use and good of cricket.
