TROUBLE IN MOROCCO
LONDON, December 23. Tribesmen surrounded Alkazar-el-kebir, in Morocco, and demanded the surrender of the French Consul and several British subjects. They threaten to loot the town if refused. The Times' Tangiers correspondent reports that there are serious complications between the French Legation and the Sultan's Government. The latter is forcing France's hand, believing the French people - will not permit the Government to act. The- Sultan of Morocco having declined to receive additional officers to strengthen, the French military mission to Fez, all Frenchmen in Fez, including the French Consul, have returned to Tangier. M. Taillander, the French Minister a* Tangier, who was going to Fez, will no 6 now proceed thither. December 24. The tribesmen at Alcazar, Morocco, were pacified by a gift of 300 dollars. They have withdrawn from the vicinity of the town. The British Consuls and all other Europeans are quitting Fez.
