PROPOSED NEW MAGAZINE.
The Union Steam Ship Company of 2Cev/ Zealand (Limited) is now engaged in ihe preliminary work incident to the publication of a high-class literary magazine, the iiutia* munber of which will appear about April next; under the title of " The Bed Funnel." This is but another step made by this popular company to meet every dern«nd of the public. Tha i magazine, we are informed, will in no wise I>9 j a guide book or traveller's hand 'book, b\it wi I be confined exclusively to the varied bteiature that goes to the making of a popular magazine for the home, the club, the library, | and for th© traveller by rail or sea. It will : maintain a dignity of character that wi 1 reflect . the highest and noblest emotions of Auatrala- ! sian manhood and womanhood, and present | to the v orld's readers a reflex of the life ana j aspirations of a people altogether too little known beyond the borders of their own land. Its contributing staff, it is stated, will ba drawn fiom the ranks of the ablest writers, statesmen, cducatoi-3. journalists, missionaries, j trave lcis, and popular authors of fiction, who I will unite m making each issue a literary i TDirvor, reflecting the brightest gems in Atisti?lasis»n Ineraiy life. ! — __— — .
