ALHAMBRA THEATRE.
On Saturday evening, at the Alhambrn> Theatre, Abomah, the Amazon giantess, mad* her first appearance before a Dunedin audieive after a general tour of Otago and Southland. She stands 7ft 6in in height, is a full-bloodsci negress. and was born in America. She is we!li proportioned, and, needless to say, she conij plotely dwarfs any average man or woman, sncl the expectations of the audience were more than realised, for the " tallest lady " was everything that hact been announced about her, »nd she duly defied anyone in the audience to iiy conchisions with her in stretch of mid. Abomah, in addition to posing, contribu^d some songs, chief of which was " My HonoHhi belle," and she rendered this item) in a pleasi.ig voice and with good effect. Included in ihtt programme were several ventriloquial items by Keuderson, •who has appeared) in Dunedia before. He also introduced some reinarka/aly good facial impersonations of celebrities oast and present, those of the Duke of "Wellington, Napoleon, Captain Dreyfus, President M'lthley, Lord Kitchener, and King Edward being especially good. Abomah passed down amongst the audience, to give, by comparison^ an idea of her gigantic -stature. In the second part Dr Eowe contributed a performance entitled " Hysteria," in which he puzzled his audience to no small degree with the crystal water mystery, Chinese linking rings, card experiments, and spiritualistic phenomena. The programme was concluded -with the song " All coons look alike to me," by Madam Abomah. Last evening the theatre was again well filled, when the yerformeis were obliged to respond to several encores.
