Wednesday, December 21, 1904. Notice. — During the holidays the weekly stock sale will be held on Thursday instead of Wednesday, the dates being 29th December and sth January. Fat Cattle. — For to-day's market at Burnside 162 were yarded. A fair proportion of these were good useful bullocks, but only a, fey pens were prime. A number of the trade h'ld already provided for their holiday requirements as regards beef, and the short supply of choice quality was therefore not felt. The sale opened quietly, and contimied without much animation throughout, prices generally being about on a, level with last week's quotations. Sheepskins.— There was a large attendance at Tuesday's sales, when a considerable number of first-class skins were offered. Bidding was keen, and very satisfactory prices were obtained. Fowl wheat has good demand, both locally and for export. Stocks of this are now in smaller compass, and any good lines are readily quitted on arrival. Quotations: Prime milling, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; medium to good, 3s 2d to 3s sd; whole fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id ; broken and damaged, 2s 7d to 2s lid per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — With short supplies and a good demand,, prices have again advanced, and to-day best Derwents are worth £i 10s to £4 153 ; medium, £1 to £4 7s 6d ; others, £3 10s to Mi -per ton (bags in). Chaff. — Prime oaten sheaf continues to arrive sparingly, "and for all bright heavy lines there is ready sale. Medium quality, although not so strongly in favour, is also quitted without difficulty. Quotations: Choice bright oaten aheaf, Mto £i ss ; medium to- good, £& 10s to j£4 per ton (baga extra). . Straw.— Quotations : Wheaten and- oaten, 30s to 35s per ton (pressed).
