December 19. — The Morven district sports were held at Steward Tark last Friday, December 16, a large crowd being in attendance. The day was fine till about 4 o'clock, when * fierce southerly buster, with rain, set in, snaking -things laither uncomfortable for a time. The track was in good order, and all the events -were keenly contested. The flag was flown -half-mast during the day out of respect to the memory of the late John Hanley (president -6i the Sports Committee). The "Waimate Pipe Band was present, and -enlivened the proceedings -with some well-clayed selections. Mr Axdagh, of the-Glenavy Hotel, had a publican's booth, while Mf .Nicholls lan a refreshment marquee, iind both seemed •to do a iair business.
