WAREPA.

December 19. — As regards the weather there has been very little change for the last fortnight — one day being bright and warm, and tho next cold and stormy. During this week there has been a good deal of thunder, followed by heavy showers of rain, btit the strong south-west wind which has prevailed has soon dried tip the ground again. Farming. — The crop is beginning to cover the ground in some places, but on the whole I think it is backward for this time of the year. Not much progress was made with shearing last week, owing to the broken weather. Grass is plentiful, and stock are looking well.

General. — The sacred concert which was to have been held in Warepa Church on Friday evening, 9th inst., was postponed till Tuesday, 13th inst., owing to the inclemency of the weather. It happened that Tuesday evening was not much better than Friday night, but there was a fair attendance, and a. pleasant evening was spent. The Rev. J. Orr occupied tie cliair. The programme, which was a varied one, consisted of organ solos by Mrs J. Sheddan and Miss Watt; recitations by Miss N. Grigor, Mrs- G. Stewart, and Mr Orr; song by Miss Stewart; duet by Miss and Mr G. Stewart ; and several anthems and pieces by the choir. The solo parts in the latter were taken by the Misses Jack, J. Ayson, B. Ayson, and Geggie, and Mesdames MaeNaughton and T. Riddell. Miss Wright presided at the organ, and Mr R. Ayson conducted. During an interval a plenteous supply of refreshments was handed round. — On Wednesday evening, at Warepa Church, Mr Jupp spoke on the subject of "Foreign Missions," Eis address being deeply interesting to those who were present. I regret that the attendance was not larger, a3 Mr Jupp is a good speaker ans thoroughly conversant with his subject. On Thursday evening he spoke at Kaihiku Church.

Coming Events.— On Monday, 26th inst., the annual Sunday school picnic will be held in the manse grounds. A collection for the picnic funds will be taken at the evening service next Sunday. — The school concert in aid of the prize fund will be held on Friday evening, in the Warepa Hall. The programme includes a number of items by the school children, and I trust that there will be a very large attendance of parents and friends.
