The ordinary meeting held on Thursday, December 15, was ailtnded by the Commissioner (Mr J. Hay), and Messrs J. M'lntyre, A. Kinross, and Jno. M'Lean. The Under-secretary intimated that a Bill would be introduced next seasion of Parliament to validate tbe disposition of 24,692 aor^s, being part of 40,039 recently withdrawn from State forest reservation. — Received
The TJnder-secretary forwarded copy of "'The Otago University Reserves Act, 1904/' and directing that immediate- action be taken wiih legard to any leases falling in. — The Registrar, Otago University, foiwarded' particulars of reserves m the Southland district — viz., Burwood run, 70,000 acres, rent £1300 per annum, the lease expiring on February 28, 1905, and Forest Hill reserve, 10,000 acres — subdivision A, 2513
acres, subdivision B 3334 acres, leased to A. R Hay, rent £40 per annum, lease expires December 31, 1914, subdivision D, part 99 acres, leased to James Millar, rent .£l6 13s 4d per annum, leaso expires September 30, 1920; balance of subdivision sold, and C E F G H also sold. — It was decided that the Burwood run be inspeoted by all the members of the board at the earliest convenient date.
Tho Under-seuretary forwarded copy of "The Public Works Amendment Act, 1904," and directing attention to section 6 re local bodies who hava r<ot utilised accrued thirds and fourths-. — Received:
It -was deckled that the District Eoad Engineer be furnished with schedules of amounis accrued to local bodies in the several districts, and he be requested to make recommendations as to the works lequired.
James Haldane applied for grazing right over open land, being part of section 11, and mining reserve adjoining section 12, block VIII, Waikawa. — Granted, at 25s per annum.
Denis Crow© was granted grazing license over land adjoining section 98, Wairio S.D., at 10s per annum
The offer of D. Crowe of £1 10s for right to cut flax en section 98, Wairio S.D., was accepted, six months being given.
It was decided to offer Jsmes Crosbie the flax on section 58, block 111, Wyndham S.D., at £4, six months given to out.
II was resolved that a lease for a term cf fourteen years of section 50, block IV, Wyndham S.D., under section 118 of the act, with right of cultivation and valuation for improvements, be offered at auction.
H. Erskine requested permission to withdraw his application for small piece of land adjoining sections 4 and 6, blook I, Alton district.— Granted, deposit to be refunded.
John Timpany wae granted six months' extension of time for cutting the sawmilling timber on land in block XXIII, Invercargill Hundred, and block VHT. Campbslltown Hundred.
F. Barker was granted exemption from residence on section 11, block 111, Nokomai.
It tub decided that section 43, block VIII, Campbelltown Hundred, bs readvertised locallj as open to selection on December 21, 1904.
Bird Brothers were granted six months' extension of time to cut the timber on sections 26, 27, and 49, block VIII, Campbelltown Hundred.
R. D. Crosbie was granted a flaxmill site on part of section 9a, block VI, -Wyndham, at £5 per annum. The N,Z. Pine Co. applied fo£a year to year lease over about _14 acres adjoining section 8, block V, Mabel Hundred, upon which water race, mill dam, and mill manager's house and tramway in connection with the Mabel Bush mill were situated. — Granted at. £1 per annum.
The following applications for land were granted: — H. Blair, seotion 73e, block 111, Mataura Hundred ; Mrs M. *A. Blair, section 72e, block 111, Mataura Hundred;" William Thomas, section 44, block VIII, Campbelltown Hundred. -* The following applications were approved : — Sections 2, 12, and 13, block I, town of Danieltown, James Markey to Win. Watt; 17, block V, Toe Toes, A. M'Gillvray to Miss Catherine M'Kinnon. - J - "• • > It was decided to recommend! the Minister to approve of the transfer of section 48a, block 111, Mataura Hundred, from Charles Morgan to M. C. Clarke.
John Beck was granted exchange of tenure ol section 7, block 11, Wendonside, from p.l. to I.i.p . '•'•-
The forfeiture of a section was rescinded, the arrears having been paid.
It was diecided to oaJl on two tenants to "show oause" owing to non-fulfilment of improvement and residential conditions.
