OTAGO EDUCATION BOARD.

The Education Board continued its monthly meeting on Wednesday morning, 'Mr D. Borrie presiding.

RESIGNATIONS

The following resignations were accepted: — Fred. S. Aldred, head teacher, Allanton; Louisa Isles, head teacher, Moa Flat; Bessie P. Spence, head teacher, Springvale; Mary Agnes Burnside, head teacher, Island Cliff; Ada Hoffman, mistress, Matakanui.

APPOINTMENTS.

Appointments were made as follows: — Mary Keys, extra assistant, Tokomaru District High School ; Jessie Paterson, mistress, Pukeuri.

GENERAL.

Accounts amounting to £7945 17s 7d were passed for payment.

It was decided to close the board's offices from the 24th inst. to January 9. -^Inspector Fitzgerald recommended that the petition of the settlers for the establishment of a school at Laucler railway station bo agreed to. He pointed cut that in the locality there was a good prospect of a fairly large school being required in a very short time. — It was decided to establish a school, and to apply to the Government for the necessary funds, the secretary meantime to take steps to get a. suitable site.

Individual cups were used at the communion in the Balolutha Presbyterian Church on Sunday, and gave general satisfaction.
