•roill be a group taken at the show, but I shall not be in. it, as I am not going to the show ; perhaps it is just, as well, for I would be sure to crack the glass. Our social, as you have aJready heard, Dot, was a grand success, and I am quite sure ws had just as good a time v,s the Diinedi-"- L.P. had at theirs. If the I».F. did not enjoy the social part I am sure they did tdie supper. If you cotild have seen that table, Dot, 1 am sure it would have made your mouth, water. ."When our worthy president saw it, he looked as if lie would' like to have sat down and started on the good things at once, they looked so tempting. As I ouly intended to write a short note, I niust stop at once, but beforo I do so I must warn you. Dot, that next time I go up to Dunedin I am going to the Witness Office to try and catch a g-lianpse of you. I hops all the old writers, especially Black Watch, Boy, Aguinaldo, Shan, Cooee, Echo, etc., will send in a few lines for 0.W.W., and make it the record Old 1 Writers' Week. Wishing Dot. the editor, and all my comrades a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year, I am, — Yours truly,
ZEALIA.
[It is indeed gratifying to know that the Invercargili social was so successful, Zealia.. I am sure all the Dunedin. L.F. will be only too pleased to learn that it was quite as successful as their own effort, and I hope, with the experience gained in both cases, next yeair's socials will even excel those cf 1901 in both cases. —DOT.]
Dear Dot, — It is about three months since I reached the retiring age, so 1 suppose I aan entitled to a wee bit of space in the O.W.W. I am looking forward to seeing a large gathering of old writers. It is about six months since J wrote last. I always intended writing when I reached the retiring age, but somehow the time slipped past a-nd the letter was never written. Christmas will soon be here, and I am looking forward to it, as Areta is coming out here for a holiday, so we are sure to have a good tkae. I met a great many ■ JL..F. at the Clutha s>how. I don't think that the show was as good as last year, and it was so wet in the morning. We left about 9, and before we got far, down came the lain, so when we got near the railway station I got out of the trap and ran to catch the train, and just got on to tihe platform when ifc came in. When we arrived in the Clutha it was pouring, but it cleared up in the afternoon, and was a fine evening. Jessica got together about 30 D.L.F., and we went up the street to Mr Morton's, and had our photos taken. I thought I should be grinning from ear to ear, as I told Mary of Argyle that I was going to give her a pinch, but .1 forgot till it was too late. I didn't see Ophir or Eeta, so I don't think they were at the show. My sister was to have ridden a horse in the ring ; but it wasn't entered before the entries closed. They tcok it to the Gore show, however, and she got first for best lady rider, and third for the horse. There is to be a school concert and dance here on the 23rd, and I hope it is a fine night. Ido so like a dance, and think it is good exercise. We stayed to the concert and dance after the show, and it was very enjoyable. I see that Jessica is proposing a monster D.L.F. picnic, and I hope it will be a success. I have never been to any of the D.L.F. picnics, as they are always so far away. I hope Uncle Con writes for the 0.W.W., as it is a.- long time since we had a letter from him. Now, I think that I will have to stop, as- 1 have just time to milk my cows before church. With best love to Areta, ißoadioea, Mary of Argyle, New Chum, and Laura, — Yours truly, [I am afraid Uncle Con 'lias deserted us altogether. Lucmda, as he is a busy business man now, and so far away that no doubt the D.L.F. Page is beyond bis reach. Possibly, however, if some L.F. friend sends him a copy of #"s week's "Witness, his sister might write and tell us how our old comrade and his people are getting m. — DOT.]
LUCINDA.
D.L.F. Crvis II. — Your notes came to hand just too late for last issue, and of course this week is devoted to old writers' contributions. However, there will be room
