CABINET DECISIONS.
WELLINGTON, December 9. The resignation of Dr Levinge, superintendent of Sunnyside Asylum as from February next was accepted to-night by the Cabinet. The Government has decided that notices jbf forfeiture of sections are not to be given to Crown tenants without being first submitted to the Minister of Lands. The Government will not proceed with j the erection of the bone manure sterilising I 1 plants, which it was proposed to establish 'at the Bluff and Auckland. As an alternative it has been resolvefl to appoint experts "at Calcutta and other places to examine all tone manures exported to New Zealand, and none will be .admitted unless certified > The Government has decided to inform the Pacific Cable Board that the employment of Chinese on board the repairing 'steamer Iris while the vessel is in New Zea*and waters is inadvisable.
A youth named Walter Williams was fined £5 at the Christohurch Magistrate s Court on Thursday for killing a black swan owned b£ the Christohurch City Council.
