PENINSULA.
The regular monthly meeting of the Penm«ula Road Board was attended by Messrs (chairman), Reekie, Walker, Black, ,tmd W. and M. Robertson. — Mr Reekie withclrew his motion re road line at Sandymount. — tthe Chairman reported that the contract for making a road at the township of Castle Hill, V^nderson's Bay, had been let to James Henderson, 3nd.' the Tramways Committee had agreed to give Mr Henderson 6d per yard for jraterial excavated from the road at Castle Uill for Toad-widening, which the (board agreed ito. — The solicitor wrote re Main road at Mr barron's property, Anderson's Bay. Mr Reekie j reported that Mr Barron had withdrawn his agreement with the board, and tne matter was j Vi.il owed to stand over till next meeting. — The board approved of the Order-in-Council for the Anderson's Bay electric tramway as submitted \os consideration. — The Chairman reported that ' Satisfactory 'arrangements had been made with Mr Sim for a piece of land at the corner of his property for road-widening purposes, also . '(with, the trustees in the estates of the late all- W. H. Cutten and the late Mr John White tfor similar purposes, , and witn Messrs Begg Bros., on the conditions that the board assumed and control over Cranston road and agreed to take over the Bayfield roads when Sormed and metalled 10yds to the chain, as i * contained in 'Mr Begg!s letter of September 1. tehe^.board agreed to all the above, and that the conditions. -imposed; by Mr Begg only applied, to the road at present formed in the township of Bayfield. — The board approved Dt" the action of tfie^cpmmittee in - securing 1.-ieces of land at the four corners of the road ilong the line of the Anderson's Bay electric tramway. — The" chairman was appointed to ittend the annual meeting of the Charitable - Jdd.and Hospital Board.— An application from the" Portpbello Road Board for half-cost of lattour between the two districts, amounting lo £1 Is, was granted. — It was decided to dispense with the services of the Highcliff and^ bandymount surfaceman until further notice. — Mr W. Robertson moved and Mr Walker teconded — " That a special rate be made for Anderson's Bay- subdivision, for the purpose bf widening the road for tramways.'^ A warm tiscussion followed. The Chairman explained that the xate was not required, as the Anderjon's Bay subdivision had sufficient funds to its credit to meet present requirements. — The flerk was instructed to write to the Telegraph Department requesting the removal of a telegraph post at Mr Sim's, also at the new excavation at the township of -Castle Hill, as they were obstructing the work of road widening. — Accounts were passed for payment >nounting to £120 lls lOd.
