(From Ovi, Own Coshespondeitt.) REEFTON, December 1. The Big River Company's mine manager reports: — "The^main shaft was sunk 7ft for the -week, making the _ depth, below I%>. 7 level 160 ft. -The sinkrog'-of the shaft is nowcompleted; and a start "made to cut out the chamber for No^ 8 level. We have stopped the" cross-cut in the east drive, the country being. hard, dry sandstone.' "We have cleaned ; out the .west drive and driven 4ft on a good track sft wide, /with broken stone in it." • December 3. The Alpine Coni!pa.ny's mine manager re-,-ports: — No. 10 level has been, extended 18ft, making -the total distance 80ft. The strata, we are passing through is slate— »tough and very slow to bore. It has very little underlie, and that to the east, and. is unmistakably the foot■walL Ten foot was driven in the cross-cut, making the total distance 48ft. The face is still hard, but better ground to" shoot. There is plenty of water in the face.
