J , ■ AUCKLAND, November 30. - I The Auckland Fruit-growers' Conference ' passed a resolution against the Shops, Act. J So far there has been no exemption to ; fruiterers selling after 6. It was stated that j the auctioneers were raising a fund of £1000 |in Auckland City to fight the act. A proposal to join in this movement was deferred, the secretary urging tEat the Premier's reply to the fruiterers' wire showed that he i intended to comply with their wishes. I Mr Bragato, Government Viticulturist, ] made a statement that grapes could be proI duced under glass, in the colony from Sep- "; temper to April. Some surprise was expressed, at this, and -Mr Bragato has conditionally accepted an offer from Mr Arch. Wilson, of Birkenhead, to hand over one of his vineries for a season to give Mr Bragato an opportunity of demonstrating the truth .of ihe statement.
Mr ,W. Norton Taylor, who recently conducted spiritualistic and clairvoyant demonstrations in Dunedin, is at present lecturing in Inveroargill. On Monday, 21st tilt., he conducted .a spiritualistic funeral service at the Invercargill Cemetery over the remains of Mr T. Boxal, who was connected with the spiritualistic tody in Southland.
