NEW YORK, November 30. The miners on strike at Zeigler, Illinois, fired into the town all night from an ambush. Gatling guns on top of Leiter's office and a coal tip answered the fire. The Militia has arrived. December 1. Mr Joseph Leiter, owner of the Zeigler mines, in which there is a strike, has been indicted for bringing armed men into the State and violating the statute. He is liable to a term of imprisonment ranging from one to five years. SIDNEY, December 1. It has transpired that a conference be-
tween the Northern colliery owners ar.d employees, ivith a view to settling the dispute, proved abortive. It is improbable that there will be any further negotiations.
