THE AUCKLAND ACCEPTANCES.

The acceptances received for tlie principal events to be decided at the Auckland summer meeting show a conskleracle thming out of the nomination list, particularly in the Cup, in whioh only 10 horses have paid up out of the 40 which, were handicapped. The Yaldhurst stable has withdrawn Martian, Nightfall, and' Co. -'rom the Chip, and is now represented by Cruciform, who is likely to see a shoi-t price if she goes to the post. The daughter of St. Leger should be able to account for Mahutonga at a concession of 111b, whilst the rest of these which claim engagements in the race are not a particularly brilliant lot, and they will have to show improved form to have a. chance with the top-weight. The same stable has paid up for Hubia. and Savoury in the Railway Handicap, and; whatever bents the best of them should win, but if anything should 1 prove capable of lowering their colours, something out of the ordinary will have to be accomplished before it can be effected. Mr Stead also holds a strong hand for the Axiekland Derby and Great Northern Foal Stakes. In the former he has a formidable pair in Sungotl and Belamere; and Noctiform, a brother to Nightfall, has also been paid up for. Sungod xnay be seen to even better advantage than he was at the recent Riccarton meeting, and he should hold a bit of a mortgage on the race ; whilst one or the other of his stable companions may be found escorting him home. Mr D. O'Brien

has continued the engagement of his Multiform colt Multifis, who is out of Heriot, a. daughter of G-rafton and the Carbine mare Urafin; but although bred on such promising lines, nothing startling has yet been heard in connection with the colts capabilities as a racehorse. 'lhe xalclhurst stable ako holds a strong .hand in the Royal Stakes and Great Northern Derby, and all going well the "boy m yellow" is likely to be frequently found piloting the way past the post at the coming gathering at Kllerslie.
