MACRAES.

.November 29. — A concert and Dan in aid or the funds of the Macraes Cricket Club was held in the local schoolhouse on Friday, 18th jnsfc. The .president of the club, Mr W. E. G-riffin, occupied the chair, and in the course of a few appropriate remarks opened the concert programme. The first item was a pianoforte duet by Mrs Phelan and Miss Callery; song, Mr J. M. Griffin, "Good company" ; Mrs Phelan, song, "Fiddle and I" ; Miss Chalmers, recitation, "The Parson's Advice," encore, "Personally Joe" ; Mr F. O. Elsoin and Mr John M. Griffin, duet, "Larboard Watch," encore, "Lodh Lomond" ; Miss Ryan, song, "Aileen Alannah," encore, "Pride of my heart" ; Mr W. E. Griffin, song, "The Englishman" ; Miss Callery, "Home, sweet home" ; Mr Joseph White, recitation, "Plead Guilty," encore (by Mr Phelan), "When Other Hearts"; Mr Edward Callery, song, "Break the news to mother." The second park was begun by a Gipsy chorus in costume by Mrs Egg«rs, Chalmers, Callery, Flynn, M'Murren, J. M. Griffin, and F. C. Elsom. This was one of the best items of the evening, and hact to be repeated. Duet, Mrs Pheian and Mr F. C. Elsom, "Gipsy countess" ; Mr John M. Griffin, song, "Carnival" ; Mr F. C. Elsom, song, "Boys of th» regiment" ; Mr Samuel Slater, recitation, "The Rabbiter," and as aji encore, "Hunting We Go" ; Miss Ryan and Mr O'Connell, duet, "Huntingtower" ; Mr 3 Phelan, pianoforte solo. This concluded the programme. The Chairman returned thanks to all who hod assisted to-inake the- concert a success, and especially those who had come a distance. He also thanked Mrs Phelan for the use of her piano, and for her service* as accompanist. The room was then cleared for dancing, which was kept up til on early hour, the dauce> music being supplied by Mr E. Flynn (violin) and Mr J. M. Griffin (piano), While Mr J.
