DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Last week's call-overs on the Stock Exchange cannot be said to have been productive of anything like satisfactory business, and the sittings in the- early part of the week were almost entirely without interest of any kind. During the last few days, however, there was a noticeable improvement in the general inquiry for shares, but this did not lead to an increase of business. No stock received marked attention during the week, but New Alpine Consols and New Bendigoes were those in which values were probably best sustained. Electrics eased somewhat towards the close of the week, and on some days they received very little notice. Both Hartleys and New Four-teen-miles commanded occasional attention, but the quotes were always extremely wide. Saturday morning's call-over resulted in one sale, the stock touched on being Rise and Shine. No other stocks received improved inquiry, while the investment market was as usual. The Molyneux River showed a fall of lin^jon Saturday morning, the height above normal mark at Alexandra being Bft 3in, with the weather mild. This means a fall of 2m since Monday last.

Alexandra Leads showed no alteration on Saturday as compared with the previous day, and Bignell's No Towns were j>laced on the market at 18s 9d without drawing inquiry. Inquiry was made for Electrics at 27s and a seller responded at 295. Golden Runs were a shade easier, and a buyer of Golden Treasures was- in evidence at 48s 6d, but the market contained no sellers. Hartley and Rileys were sought after at 355, as against 40s the previous day, and a parcel of Hessey^s shares was placed on the market at 18s writhout drawing inquiry. Manuherikias were again in request at 23s without result. New Alpine Consols were firm, but New Bendigoes were a shade easier, bnyers offering 5s 3d and sellers asking 6s 3d. A buyer of New Fourteen-mile Beaches was m evidence at 10s p., but the market contained no sellers. A parcel of Rise and Shine shares changed hands at 20s 6d, with additional buyers at the same price, and sellers at 21s. Rising Suns were sought after a4-J9s and Sandy Points at 16s 3d, but there was no response from sellers in either case.

There was a certain amount of brightness of tone about the opening call-over of the share market on Monday, in that two sales were, brought off, now an unusual circumstance for Monday morning. There was only one mining stock, however, fci- which the inquiry showed anything liko an improvement, and this was Golden Treasure, but this may be accounted for fey the excellent return won by this company's diedge for last week. Manuherikias, and New Bendigoes, the 'former especially, conuapnded better inquiry, while 'for Electrics buyers were prepared to- give last week's closing price. Holders of New Roxburgh Jubilees and Otsgos both disclosed an easing tendency, in consequence, probably, of the slight falling off in the returns from that company's respective dredges. Jn the investment stock market ' New Zealand Insurance share 3 were placed on the market at a, shade easier price, while a parcel of Godward's Spiral Pins — shares which have been leceivirg j, fair amount of attention lately — changed hands at 3s, further lots being placed on the market at 3s 3d, without drawing mqaiiry. The Moiyneux showed a further fall of lin on Monday morning since Saturday, the height above normal mark at Alexandra being Bft, 2in, with the weather cold. The returns for the past week reach a total slightly gTeater than that of the previous- week. Hie Golden Treasure heads the list with 94 odd ounces, while two other dredges in the same district — tbe Golden Rtvn and the Golden Bed — obtained satisfactory yields. The Lady Annie return shows a considerable falling off as compared with the prevkms week's, but it is nevertheless very good. The returns to hand from the West Coast are again rather few.

Alexandra Lead* were, if anything, a shade firmer on Monday, buyers offering 5s 3d, and sellers asking 6*3. A parcel of Chicago shares changed hands at 6s 6d at the morning callover, with additional buyers at the close at the same price, but no further sellers. In the afternoon a buyer was in evidence at 6s, but there were again no sellers. Electrics had inquiry at 275, the same pries as was offered en Saturday, but the market was devoid of rollers, this also bring the case with regard to Golden Treasures, for which a buyer was prepared to give 50s as "against 48s 6d at the close of last week. Hartley and Rileys came under notice again, buyers' offering 38», and holders continuing firm at 50,*. Mamiherikias commanded better notice, while holders were also firmer, the quotes being — buyers 245, sellers 26s 6d. An inquiry was made for Mokoias at ss, and for New Alpine Consols at 7s 3d. but in both cases without lesult. The inquiry for New Bendigoes improved slightly, the price offered being 5s Od, with holdors firm at 6a 3d. New Fourteen-mile Beaches were in request at 10s p., without result, and moderate notice was accorded New Halfway Houses, buyers offering Is 9d,- and sellers asking ss. New Roxburgh Jubilees were a shade easier, as also wexe- Otagos. Buyers of Riley's Beaches were offering ss, and sellers were holding for 7s 6d, while Rise and Shines were sought after at 20s, and Rising Suns at ISs, but m both coses withoirt resiilt. The following are Monday's latest quotations, subject to the usual brokerage: — Alexandra Lead — Buyers 5s 3d', sellers 6s. Chicago — Buyers 6s. Electric; — Buyers £1 7s.
