OTAGO EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
A committee meeting of the Otago Early Settlers' Association was held in the registered office of the association, Stock Exchange Buildings, on Monday evening, and attended by Mr John Eeid (in ihe chair), Messrs Duke, Duthie, Culling, W. E. Brugh, Langlands (secretary), and Dr Fulton. Apologies from Messrs Donald Reid, Alexander Burt, sen., and Geo. M'Laren were received.
Votes of thanks were passed to the manager of the Clutha. Leader for four copies of " Jubilee services and celebrations. Clutha. Presbyterian Church, 1854-1904," and to Mr and Mrs Alexander Mathieson, Tomahawk, who ■arrived by the Lord "VVorsley in 1&59, for their portraits, taken at the celebration of their golden wedding at Tomahawk on June J9, 1901.
It was decided to hold the usual spring social gathering at the latter end of the month or early in September, the secretary to arrange the date with the Agricultural Hall Company. The Secretary brought up the oft'er of Miss Leech and her dramatis class to repeat the performance of " Dandy Dick " for the benefit of the fund for building the Eearly Settlers' Hall. This was considered a most generous act, particularly on the part of Miss Leech, to whom and the class ti unanimous vote of thanks was passed. — The secretary to arrange tho date and details with Miss Leech.
According to a resolution passed at last meeting 11 names were removed from the list ex
members for being heavily in arrears witli their subscriptions m spite of repealed applications and notice. Ten new members were elected. Chisholm (71), Milton, 1860; Matthew Scott (78), Auckland, late of Southland. 1855; James Johnson (80), Puerua, Rajah, 1853; Peter JJurray M'Gregor (69), Dunedin, Sevilla, 1b59; Eobert Allison (73), Mataura, j.854; Michael Cleary Fleming (90), St. Clair, 1863; Mrs F-obert Stewart, Kuriwao Gorge, Clinton, Silistria, 1860; Miss May Taylor (85), Dunedin, Larkins, 1849 ; Joseph Loughurst Gregory (68), Dunedin, 1862; Mrs J. K. Eobertson (63), I'almerston South, 1860.
