SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The monthly meeting of the School Commissiorers of Otago was held on the 21st; present — Messrs D. Bairron (chairmen), T. Mac Gibbon, D. Borne, W. Dallas, and tJie Hon. A. Baldey.

An application was received from ths engineer, Southland County Cou lcii, ior a vote to complete Baxter's coal-jsit load; alss asking for a vote to construct p small bridge on Robson's road. T. Baxter also wrote staling that the output from his coal-pit for the last four years had averaged 400 tons per jear, and urging the commissioners -lo grant assistance towards improvement of the road : ?lso asking for a lease of coal-pit. — It was resolved that .^s ihe commissioners intended making a general inspection of the reserves m the Waikaia district not later tlhau Kovember the matter of applications for road grants and rebate of rents be held over pending the visit.
